Privacy Policy

AdhanSync is run by CodeMasters Agency Inc., Hamilton, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). This policy covers the AdhanSync Android app and adhansync.com.

What we collect and why

• Your home location. Map coordinates rounded to about 10 metres, the place name and the country. Prayer times depend on location, so we need it to calculate yours. We only read your phone's location when you tap "use my location" during setup, and never track it in the background. You can enter a city instead.
• The masjid you follow, so we can use its timetable.
• Your settings: which prayers play, on which speakers, at what volume, the extras you turn on (Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, the dua after the adhan), and any pause or skip you set.
• Your speakers. The app finds Google Nest and other Cast speakers on your home Wi-Fi. We store the names and models of the speakers you pick, so you can choose which prayer plays where. Your phone plays the adhan on them directly over your home network. No speaker account is linked and we never see any password.
• Delivery records: whether each adhan played, on which of your speakers, and any error your phone reports. This powers the status screen and the alerts that tell you when something didn't play.
• An app ID and key. On first launch the app gets a random ID and a key from our server to identify your home. They aren't linked to your name or your Google account. There is no sign-in.
• Messages you send us, such as support emails, and your email address.
• For masjids: the masjid's name, its timetable and a contact email for timetable reminders.

What we don't collect

• No advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking tools in the app or on this website.
• No contacts, photos, microphone recordings, continuous location, or list of the other devices on your network.
• The app keeps a technical log on your phone to help with support. It stays on your phone unless you choose to send it to us.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your data. We share it only with the services that run AdhanSync, and only what each one needs:

• Cloudflare runs our servers and database, hosts this website and delivers the adhan audio.
• Audio hosts. The adhan and Surah Al-Kahf recordings are streamed to your speakers from public audio hosts (praytimes.org and the Islamic Network Quran CDN, cdn.islamic.network). Your speaker fetches the file like any stream, so the host sees your network address. Nothing else about you is sent.
• Your masjid does not see who follows it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Where it's stored

Your data is stored by Cloudflare, normally in a data centre in North America near where your home was first set up, and may be processed elsewhere on Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare protects it under its own security program. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

How long we keep it

We keep your settings and location for as long as you use AdhanSync. Delivery records are kept for up to 90 days. When you ask us to delete your data, we delete it within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

• Change your home, masjid and settings at any time in the app.
• Turn off Google Nest home mode, or remove speakers, at any time in Settings › Google Nest.
• Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing info@adhansync.com. See how to delete your data.

We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law.

Children

AdhanSync is meant for households and is set up by adults. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
